Eevee — The Base Form

Eevee (#133) is a Normal-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I (Red/Blue). Its unstable genetic makeup allows it to adapt to extreme environments, which is the in-universe explanation for its many possible evolutions. Its base stats are modest, but its evolution potential is unmatched.

How to Evolve Eevee Into Each Form

Vaporeon — Water Stone

Use a Water Stone on Eevee at any time. Vaporeon has excellent HP and Special Attack, making it a bulky Water-type attacker.

Jolteon — Thunder Stone

Use a Thunder Stone on Eevee. Jolteon boasts blazing Speed and solid Special Attack, making it one of the fastest Electric-types available.

Flareon — Fire Stone

Use a Fire Stone on Eevee. Flareon has the highest Attack stat of all Eeveelutions but is held back by a limited physical Fire-type move pool.

Espeon — High Friendship (Daytime)

Level up Eevee with high friendship during the daytime. Espeon is a powerful Psychic-type sweeper with exceptional Special Attack and Speed.

Umbreon — High Friendship (Nighttime)

Level up Eevee with high friendship during the nighttime. Umbreon is a defensive tank with high Defense and Special Defense.

Leafeon — Leaf Stone (Modern Games) / Moss Rock (Older Games)

In Generation VIII onward, use a Leaf Stone. In earlier games, level up near a Moss Rock. Leafeon is a physical Grass-type attacker with great Defense.

Glaceon — Ice Stone (Modern Games) / Ice Rock (Older Games)

In Generation VIII onward, use an Ice Stone. In earlier games, level up near an Ice Rock. Glaceon excels in Special Attack and is one of the best Ice-types.

Sylveon — High Friendship + Fairy-type Move

In Sword/Shield and later, level up Eevee knowing a Fairy-type move with high friendship. In X/Y through Ultra Sun/Moon, it also required two Affection hearts in Pokémon-Amie/Refresh. Sylveon is a specially bulky Fairy-type powerhouse.

Which Eeveelution Should You Choose?

The "best" Eeveelution depends entirely on your team's needs:

  • Need bulk? → Umbreon (defensive) or Vaporeon (HP tank)
  • Need speed? → Jolteon
  • Need special offense? → Espeon or Glaceon
  • Need a Fairy-type? → Sylveon
  • Building a balanced team? → Consider the type gaps you need to fill

Each Eeveelution has a distinct role. Rather than chasing the "strongest" one, choose the Eeveelution that complements your current team composition.
